Resource Geologist
Barrick Nevada is an integrated gold mining operation that combines the Cortez and Goldstrike properties in Nevada, employing a total of 3,000 employees and 800 contractors. The operation utilizes both open pit and underground mining methods.
Responsibilities include: The Resource Geologist will play a key role in the geologic interpretation and statistical analysis of mineral deposits at Cortez. An emphasis will be placed on 3D computer modeling of mineralized zones and controlling geologic features and ultimately aiding in the estimation of gold resources. The candidate will work with site mine geology, exploration, and engineering groups to aid in drill planning, data analysis, reconciliation, and other duties as necessary. There will be exposure to a wide variety of geologic modeling, data analysis, and grade estimation scenarios with opportunities for increased responsibilities and career growth.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: To be considered for this job, applicants must meet these basic requirements:
Bachelors of Science degree in Geology or Geological Engineering or equivalent required
A minimum of (3) years of experience in mineral exploration, mine geology, ore control, or resource modeling required
Experience with Vulcan, Leapfrog, or other mining software preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs required
Ability to demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills required
Ability to work within a team environment and excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required
Ability to take initiative on projects and work independently required
High level of organization and attention to detail required
Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of this job required
